Description

Development and application of methodologies for the evaluation and prediction of the behaviour of a component, structure or system and their application for the improvement and optimisation of its behaviour. Depending on the case under analysis, it may include experimental activities related to: static and dynamic structural analysis, fatigue characterisation, life prediction, durability, reliability, NVH, EMC, electrical safety... This solution includes the diagnosis of the causes of in-service failure of components and structures (mainly mechanical: failure due to static overload, fatigue, corrosion, welding problems, processing problems, heat treatments, etc.).

The behaviour analysis can be carried out on prototypes and on the final product, and therefore serves to verify and improve design concepts and the effect of manufacturing processes.

TESTING METHODOLOGIES

Development and application of testing methodologies for fatigue analysis in components and systems: multiaxial tests under complex mechanical and thermal loads, failure modes, accelerated testing.

FAILURE MECHANISM IDENTIFICATION

Identification of failure mechanisms in components (mechanical fatigue, embrittlement, corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, creep, thermal fatigue, abrasion and wear, surface contact fatigue, impact, etc.) and their causes (design flaws, manufacturing defects, assembly errors, material failures, usage/maintenance issues).
