Supercomputing Infrastructure:
HPC and Cloud Computing
Description
The Aragón Supercomputing Center (CESAR) offers its advanced computing infrastructure to companies and researchers, including both High Performance Computing (HPC) and Cloud Computing platforms.
Businesses can run simulations or processes requiring high computational power, particularly in their R&D&I projects, and also learn how to operate this type of advanced computing environment.
Competitive Advantages
CESAR is managed by the BIFI Institute at the University of Zaragoza, which has extensive experience in various supercomputing paradigms such as HPC, Grid, Cloud Computing, dedicated computers, and even volunteer computing. It is one of the nodes of the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES).
The Data Processing Center (DPC) covers more than 100 m² and features electrical protection systems (UPS, generator), restricted access, fire suppression systems, and more.
The BIFI team has experience providing services to researchers as well as collaborating with companies across diverse sectors (manufacturing, engineering, ICT, insurance, energy, etc.), ensuring the support needed for companies to successfully adopt these essential computing platforms in the age of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence.
Applications
Computing spans many industries, as countless processes can now be simulated: material treatment or cutting, logistics systems, machining plants, architectural rendering, fluid dynamics simulations...
Some companies have their own computing infrastructure, which may be sufficient for their current needs. However, the growing trend is the use of shared cloud infrastructure, which can result in significant cost savings and greater energy efficiency.
In this regard, some of the applications that can benefit from CESAR’s infrastructure and the expertise of its team include:
- Process optimization
- Intensive numerical simulations
- Big Data projects
- Deep / Machine Learning
- Image processing, rendering
- Classification
Technology Areas:
- Advanced or High Performance Computing
- Cloud Computing
- Software as a Service (SaaS) and service architectures
- Simulation and modelling
Categories:
- Concept validation and prototyping
- Testing and validation
- Commercial infrastructure
