Electrification of products,
components and systems
Description
To enhance the efficiency of components or systems, we offer support in designing and developing their electrification, aiming to improve performance and functionality. Our activity spans from product improvement consulting and new design development to prototype manufacturing and certified testing for product approval. The main areas of work include:
- Custom power converter design
We design power electronic converters using Cadence tools and control systems (microcontrollers and DSPs), tailored to the specific needs of each client. - Design and characterization of energy storage units
We develop energy storage systems (battery packs) and characterize cells, focusing mainly on supercapacitors and lithium-ion batteries. These studies include safety and aging considerations. - Energy balance studies in power systems
We create quasi-dynamic models to analyze energy distribution throughout work cycles of systems, helping to define operating strategies, component selection, and energy classification. - Prototype development and functional validation
We build and validate prototypes and pre-series in ITA’s power laboratory to ensure that design, control, and EMC aspects meet requirements established through simulation. - EMC characterization of components and complex systems
We conduct electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) studies to ensure the proper integration of electrical and electronic systems, including emission and susceptibility mapping and electromagnetic propagation analysis. These studies are conducted through simulations and both accredited and non-accredited EMC tests on real prototypes. - Electromagnetic modeling and simulation
This includes numerical modeling and simulation of electromagnetic phenomena to improve efficiency and EMC in systems. Simulations may involve electric motors, antennas, and PCBs. Our EMC lab and motor test benches (for low and medium power) allow us to validate results with real measurements.
